Teams

Information.

Are you interested in taking your dance training to the next level? Do you want to learn a variety of different styles and have multiple performance opportunities throughout the year including various eisteddfods and competitions, local events etc. Well our TEAM classes may be for you.

Our Expectations.

We expect that HDF TEAM student’s strive for and achieve an admirable level of technique, performance and discipline. Discipline involves always attending class, wearing the correct uniform, applying themselves and committing to the teacher and the class. We want our TEAM classes to be filled with students who want to dance & who are proud to represent our school. We want students to walk into class each week prepared and eager to move forward.

Commitment.

Commitment is what we ask and what is expected – a group can only perform at it’s best when a team is represented in full, without absentees. Yes students do get sick the morning of a competition or family emergencies may arise and we do understand, but we ask that the commitment starts much earlier than the day of competition. For this reason we ask that a student in a TEAM class may not have more than two absences per term.

Class Requirements.

Choosing the TEAM stream at HDF means that you must attend a minimum of 3 classes per week. These classes need to include at least 1 technical class (either a Ballet or Technique class). The exception to this is if you choose to enrol in a Lyrical TEAM, you will need to attend a Ballet class to meet the technical requirements. You can't choose to attend 3 TEAM classes without including the technical class & a student who begins the year enrolled in all the required classes but who then drops below the minimum required will need to drop the Troupe class.

A MINI MOVER Jazz TEAM student is only required to attend two classes weekly- and it can be any class on the timetable as well as the Jazz TEAM class.

Costumes.

In general TEAM costumes are more expensive than those we choose for our other classes as they are made to fit and we go the extra mile to ensure all of our groups really look great on stage.

As these costumes are worn numerous times throughout the year, they are yours to keep (unless specified otherwise) and you are responsible to bring these along to each eisteddfod and concert this year (any lost or misplaced headpieces etc are the responsibility of each dancer and will not be replaced).

Please note that we do not mark up the prices of these costumes in an effort to keep costs down.

  • A Troupe costume can be anything between $80 – $150

  • A Classical Tutu is bought brand new if a second hand cannot be found and in the last two years these tutus have cost between $300 – $400 each these are purchased in Term One. As well as the tutu all classical troupe students will require Satin Ballets with ribbons.

Costume invoices for all TEAM items are normally sent out in Term 1. Keep your eye out for the invoice (these will be included in one of your monthly invoices). To ensure we get these in time for our first competition we will need to get the orders placed ASAP with the suppliers.

Finally.

I am excited about our 2024 TEAMS and I am really looking forward to this year. By taking part you are also accepting the responsibility and commitment that comes with it. We understand that the additional commitment and costs involved may not be for everyone, which is why we offer great classes in our FUN stream however we really believe that being part of a TEAM is a truly rewarding experience. The friends you make will last a lifetime and the performance experience is something that will benefit you in many aspects of your life. I look forward in seeing you all in class this year.
