Mini Movers
Introducing.
Mini Movers is a new program we are putting in place in 2024 for our 6yrs & Under students.
Often the transition from Pre School to Big School is a year of huge excitement, new beginnings, new friends and new routines. The same can be said about transitioning from our Ready Set Dance classes into afternoon classes at the studio. It is also at this stage that some families make the decision to take a break from dancing. This has led us to introduce the Mini Movers program in 2024.
The benefits of our children staying active and creative are well known and as a parent of three girls one thing I’ve learnt and had many conversations with other parents about, is just how important their dance friends are. When they come home from a bad day at school, there is always their dance friends, when classmates don’t share the same interests there, they are again their dance friends. It’s a beautiful bond that not only the children cherish but that the mums enjoy as they also sit together at dance, and watch their children grow up together often until they are adults.
What is Mini Movers?
The Mini Movers program will continue with the same format of the one-hour per week combination classes that the READY SET DANCE students are already familiar with, so the new Mini Movers class will have an hour with Miss Alyssa each Monday where they continue to work on the foundations of Ballet, Tap and Jazz, keeping that fun RSD combo feel. We believe this class is perfect for the students moving into school and provides the perfect stepping stone into our after school programs.
What about the dancer who wants more?
A Mini Mover also has the opportunity each Tuesday to be part of their first TEAM. This is a competition group that will perform a Jazz item at three local dance eisteddfod competitions throughout the year. These dancers will work with Miss Bella each Tuesday for an hour learning correct Technique whilst putting together a fun Jazz routine.
What extra is required for a TEAM student ?
The only extra requirement of a MINI MOVER Jazz Team dancer is that they do a minimum of two hours dance weekly – so as well as their Tuesday class, they may choose to attend the Monday Combo class, the Tuesday Primary Ballet class or the Irish lesson available for their age group on Tuesdays as well. A costume is made specifically to measurements for your child, it is purchased by the parent for the dancer, and your attendance in class each week is so important as they are a representative competing TEAM.
This is a beautiful fun step into the dance world for a little dancer who loves the stage. The styles all available to this age group are thoroughly planned and thought about so that the foundations are there to build a strong, confident little dancer with all the technical foundations set, so should they wish to peruse dance we have set them up on the right path from an early age but keeping it fun.
